The UK has hosted the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November 2021. Five years after the ratification of the Paris Agreement, this conference is seen as a last great opportunity to ‘take back control of the climate’.

Representatives from each country discussed and committed to pursuing the roadmap set out in Paris, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Although the final declaration posted by the UK presidency of Cop26 disappointed by making no mention of a specific mechanism to compensate for the losses and damage already suffered by the poorest countries, commitments were made…
